Hello Parents!

It’s a little bit sad to come to the realization that this will be my last time writing those words for an entire year. Yes, it is finally time to bring summer 2014 here at CBB to a close. This was by far my favourite summer here as director for a multitude of different reasons; the greatest staff that any camp would be lucky to have. Though I say it time and time again, the spirit that the campers have this summer is astounding and unlike that of anything I’ve seen before as Director at CBB.

Today, we had a great last day. In the morning, the campers and staff cleaned the camp and their bunks and then all of the staff helped the campers neatly pack all of their things so that they are sure to return home with, hopefully, everything that they brought. Then the campers had time to relax for the rest of the day and play a few games with their staff and friends one last time before they come home tomorrow.

At night, we had our annual banquet, with the Chinese decor throughout the dining hall. Our arts department did a fantastic job planning it this year and, along with the help of the kitchen staff, turned one of the most popular dinners at camp into one of the most popular banquet dinners we’ve had at camp! We even had the little cardboard takeout boxes for that authentic feel.

To end off the great day that we had today, the maintenance staff put together their annual bonfire for everyone which I swear must have been at least 30 feet tall. Something truly amazing to witness. So that is that, this blog will bring CBB summer 2014 to a close and I cannot wait to see you all at the buses tomorrow morning to get your kids and hear everything that happened with them this summer.

Until next summer everyone!

Yours truly,
Josh @ the camp that will be even better next year!

Hello Parents!

Well, it feels like today was the real last day of camp. Yes, I know that we still have tomorrow as well as Friday morning but something about having the last day of activities for the summer and seeing everyone going to media or boating for the last time really sends the message home: summer 2014 is coming to a close.

Despite the weather, the staff and specialists used everything at their disposal to ensure today’s activities were just as fun and exciting as they were the first day. Today was especially special because the Pioneers had their 3rd annual summer Passover seder. The food was glorious and fun was had by all. A true sense of family filled the dining hall while they read their unique seder books.

This evening we also had our last dance of the summer. Our campers made sure to wear their Red clothes to support Superior Sound’s #RockTheRed campaign. Almost every camper was up and dancing and doing everything they could do to take advantage of every last moment they had at one of the best camps in the world; CBB.

Until tomorrow everyone. Please don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s happening in camp during the summer and during the year.

Hello Parents!

Today was one of those quiet days at camp that seems to come as the summer begins to wind down. Though the weather brought us clouds today, our amazing staff and specialists made it their duty to keep the campers smiling at all times…mission accomplished. As an exciting treat for our Co-Ed campers, we decided to take them to Mont Tremblant for some fun in a beautiful setting. Our Co-Ed campers are the future of CBB, and I could not have been more excited to treat them to this outing!

Until tomorrow everyone. Feel free to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s happening around camp.

Hello parents!

We had a lot of fun tonight here at CBB! After another beautiful day up north, we had a special cookout on Jr. Ball Field. It was great to see everyone hanging out together and having a blast while eating some very good BBQ. We grilled up hot dogs and made some fries for all of our campers and staff, and they were some of the best we’ve had at camp in a while.

After the fun on the beach everyone went down to Junior Ballfield where we had a professional screening of a movie in the park. We watched Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, which was absolutely fantastic!

Enjoy the preview of last night’s fantastic Pio Show! We will be posting the full video on Facebook in the coming days!

Until tomorrow everyone! Don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s happening around camp.

Hello Parents!

Today was another great day at camp, apart from the beginning of our last cycle of activities for summer 2014 here at CBB, this evening we also had the PIO show! The show was fantastic, the theme was a compilation of basically any and all late night shows on television. Some examples would be sketches from shows like; SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon as well as many more. All of the PIO skits had campers and staff involved and kept the audience laughing their heads off.

Until tomorrow everyone. Don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s going on around camp.

Hello Parents!

Another Theme Day has officially come and gone and my predictions from last nights blog were true. It was one of the best I’ve ever seen as director and staff. Everyone was pumped full of energy from start to finish. We were blessed with one of our nicest days, not only of the session, but for the entire summer. Even in the hot sun, no one stopped running or cheering the entire day. Theme day today went from breakfast until GS and the schedule was as follows; the JInters and seniors/coeds alternated activities in the morning so while the Juniors and Inters were having fun at the water regada, the seniors and coeds were running around trying to catch their counsellors as they hid around a predetermined area of camp. Then vice-a-versa after lunch. Red team ended up taking home the gold for all four of these events but the Blue team took home the Tug of War before lunch.

After the rotation of those two activities, each unit took part in the Sportpocalypse! Each unit played a different sport whether it be soccer baseball, basketball, gaga ball, you name it. The wins for all these events were scattered with the Blue team taking the majority of them home.

At GS, we had the final culmination where both teams sang beautiful remixes of popular songs with original lyrics that they prepared for the theme. Then, to finish off this massive 24-hour extravaganza, the team captains had to dig through a bucket of ice to find either a paper saying they won or nothing, and the winner was…. The Red Team! I would like to personally extend a huge thank you to the Theme Day committee for planning this whole event; Michael Brecher, Amanda Myerson and Megan Littman, what a great job!

We then ended our day celebrating our final Shabbat of the summer! It was bittersweet, but absolutely full of energy! The ruach was absolutely in the air and I cannot have been more proud to be a CBBer!

Until next time everyone. Don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s happening around camp and for awesome looks at this years Theme Day!

Hello Parents!

Happy Theme Day! the theme this year is Fire vs. Ice, a play on the crazy weather we’ve been having this summer. The break happened at GS so no one expected anything was going on except for the filming of the daily video. However, there was more than just that going on! The campers were all floored when they heard that it was Theme Day!

The captains of each team are as follows: the fire team:Jake Rashkovan and Tayla Strulovitch; the ice team: Casey Dulson and Ronni Seller. I’m so excited to see how tomorrow goes, especially with all the spirit that everyone at camp has this summer, I’m sure that it will end up being one of the best Theme Days we’ve ever had.

Tonight we had a very exciting apache, that ended with the traditional rope burn. This year we had an all female fire crew, and something very exciting happened that we will fill you in on in the very near future.

Until tomorrow everyone. Feel free to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s happening around camp.

Hello Parents!

Well today was just an awesome day here at CBB. Not only did we have our second dance and CBB Live of the session but we also had the third annual Segal Centre Sing-Off! Good news about the sing-off, we won! The crowd was cheering the whole time and I’d like to personally thank everyone from YCC and Kinneret who came out to participate. I would also like to thank TB1 for hosting the event as well as all the judges for judging it.

The dance tonight was one of the best ever! Everyone was inside and dancing the night away or at least dancing until their unit was called back to their bunks. It’s very sad that next week is already our last dance of the session but at the same time I can’t wait for it so that I can party with everyone at the greatest camp in the world!

Also, make sure to stay tuned on Facebook tomorrow for tonight’s CBB LIVE!

Until tomorrow everyone. Don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what’s going on around camp.

Hello Parents!

Today was one of those quiet days at camp, with Tisha B’av and many of our campers fasting, the camp felt a little bit empty during the periods and, as such, not much of importance happened. The campers who didn’t fast had a fantastic time at their activities and as always, even with the rain everyone kept smiling.

Our campers participating in tomorrow’s Segal Centre Sing-Off got in their final rehearsal time before their big performance tomorrow! I am always amazed how many talented campers join us at CBB every year!

Until tomorrow. Feel free to “Like” us on Facebook for constant updates on what is happening around camp.
